Episode 002: Kate Ceberano
Episode 002 of The Blank Canvas Podcast with Kate Ceberano.
Fronting pop funk band ‘I’m Talking’, Kate notched up 5 consecutive hit singles and a Platinum debut album. The year was 1986 and Michael Hutchence from INXS won Most Popular Male Artist and Kate won Most Popular Female Artist.
Kate has barely drawn breath since, racking up 27 albums over 35 years whilst effortlessly moving around genres. With 3 x ARIA awards and 7 nominations for Best Female Artist, and dozens of other major awards, Kate is Australian entertainment royalty. She has starred in seminal productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and South Pacific, had her own tonight show on the ABC, won Dancing With The Stars, curated the Adelaide Cabaret Festival just to name a few of her milestones.
Her latest album, with the prescient title “The Dangerous Age”, was written and recorded virtually, before it became a thing in 2020. This collaboration with Steve Kilbey and Sean Sennett has been one of the most acclaimed albums of the year.
